Standard rainwear is designed to keep water out, not to protect you from arc flash. Most of it relies on plastic membranes that can melt, drip, or burn if an electrical arc occurs, increasing the risk of serious skin injuries.

Arc-rated wet weather gear is different. It is designed first and foremost to protect you from arc flash and flame exposure, while still managing wet conditions as effectively as possible. That trade-off is deliberate, and it’s critical to safety.
